The TalentGenius Agent Autonomy Score measures how independently an AI agent can operate. It is composed of four key dimensions:
Role Coverage
Measures how advanced and multifaceted the agent's tasks and role simulation are.
- Level 1Performs a single basic task (e.g., summarize text)
- Level 2Executes a simple fixed workflow (2–3 steps)
- Level 3Coordinates related tasks with logic/branching
- Level 4Functions like a domain-specific role (e.g., developer)
- Level 5Mimics a professional role across multiple domains
Self-Activation
Indicates how much the agent relies on external triggers or operates autonomously.
- Level 1Requires manual user triggering each time
- Level 2Performs a short sequence after prompt
- Level 3Operates via scheduled or external trigger
- Level 4Monitors and acts on changing inputs or contexts
- Level 5Self-starts and self-recovers without input
User Independence
Reflects how much the agent needs user input, guidance, or feedback.
- Level 1Needs constant feedback or instructions
- Level 2Uses templates or guided prompts; user-dependent
- Level 3Executes with human review after output
- Level 4Acts with minimal oversight
- Level 5Learns or adapts without user feedback
Mission Competence
Evaluates the agent's ability to interpret, adapt, and act toward achieving goals.
- Level 1Executes only predefined tasks or commands
- Level 2Follows a structured, linear workflow
- Level 3Aware of goals, executes rigidly
- Level 4Selects subgoals, adjusts execution
- Level 5Converts abstract goals into independent plans and actions
How the Overall Score is Calculated
The overall Agent Autonomy Score is the average of the four core dimensions: Role Coverage, Self-Activation, User Independence, and Mission Competence. This combined score offers a concise way to compare agents across the autonomy spectrum, while reflecting their ability to operate independently and handle complex tasks.
